you can’t come in, stop lurking

This is the way retail workers must feel when they’re going through closing procedures… irritated by all the people hanging outside the door who don’t seem to understand that the place is not open. Well, sort of. I’m on “guard duty” at the moment, keeping students away from the library as it’s closed today. This  means: No, I cannot let you in to use the restroom. No, I cannot let you in to check your mail. No, I cannot let you in to have a drink of water. Closed means closed. I’m only in here due to special circumstances. Some of them have been lurking around the door, apparently waiting for me to relent. Right. I imagine this will only get worse as the day progresses and more people start to come to campus.
