I just learned that they’re closing the Waldenbooks at our local mall. While I try to stay away from this mall at all costs, the Waldenbooks was one of the few reasons I even ventured there. It’s been a staple in my life as a reader. It has been the only bookstore in the area as long as I’ve been here and while the selection may not have been the greatest, there was always something to be found. It was the store where I would buy all of my summer reading books when I was in grade school and where I would go whenever I didn’t feel like driving half an hour to go to the nearest Borders or Barnes and Noble. I’ll miss that little store. It was small and often disorderly, but it was my own little bookstore.
