Daruma dolls look something like those Playskool Weebles dolls every toddler had in the 80s. They’re Japanese wishing dolls (there’s more to it than that, learn more on the Wiki). They have two blank eyes and you’re supposed to draw one in while making a wish (preferably something that is an actual achievable goal). When your wish comes true, you fill in the second eye. I got one for a friend when I was in grad school but I’m too impatient to order one now, so here’s my virtual Daruma wish 🙂
